In October of the previous year, on the 22nd and 23rd, Bridge the Gap Ethiopia embarked on a transformative journey in Adama City. Our goal was clear: to spread awareness about breast cancer and empower women to prioritize their breast health.
Over those two days, our team of 26 dedicated volunteer doctors and nurses worked tirelessly to conduct a breast cancer screening event that reached almost 800 women in the community. The power of community engagement was evident, as the local population came together to support this vital initiative.
During the screening event, we identified 97 suspicious cases that required further attention. One woman’s timely diagnosis demonstrated the life-saving potential of early detection. It underscored the critical role that regular screenings play in improving outcomes.
But our mission doesn’t end there. We believe that raising awareness should be an ongoing effort. That’s why we’re excited to announce our plans for another breast cancer screening event in the near future. Our commitment to empowering women and emphasizing early detection remains unwavering.
None of these achievements would have been possible without the incredible support of our partners and the Adama community. Their dedication to our cause has been instrumental in making a significant difference in the fight against breast cancer.
As we reflect on this significant milestone, we are reminded of our motto: “Together we can reduce disparity.” Let us continue to champion the cause against breast cancer, working hand in hand to create a healthier, more informed, and empowered community.
